What we collect, why, where it is kept, and how to see, fix or delete it.

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Spinozzi's Woodshop is a woodworking and trades course for kids 7 to 13. It's run by Adam, known on the site as Mr. Spinozzi. He was a carpenter for 12 years and has taught high school woodshop for 8. In this policy, "we" and "us" means Spinozzi's Woodshop.

This page tells parents what we collect, why, where it's kept, and how to see, fix or delete it.

The short version

  • A parent makes the account. Kids never get their own login or email address.
  • We ask for each kid's first name or a nickname. Never a last name.
  • There are no ads on the site, and we never sell anything about you or your kids.
  • Kids can't post, chat or share anything with other people on the site.
  • You can see, fix or delete your family's information at any time.

What we collect

About you, the parent

  • Your name, email address and password. You give these when you sign up. Your password is stored scrambled (hashed) by our sign-in service, so nobody can read it, not even us.
  • Your family name, which you choose (for example, "The Rivera Family").
  • Your invite code. The preview is by invitation, with one code per family. We keep which code your family used.
  • Your email choices, such as whether you want progress updates.
  • Your feedback answers, if you fill in the preview's short feedback form.
  • Your ZIP code, only if you choose to give it in the Founders' Survey. It is optional, and it helps Mr. Spinozzi plan classes in person near families.
  • Your build plan sign-off. Before plans open, you tick a box to say you'll supervise and have read the safety notice. We keep that you ticked it, which account ticked it, and the date.

About each kid

  • A first name or nickname. You type it in. Please don't use last names.
  • An age group: 7 to 10, or 11 to 13. We don't ask for a birthday.
  • An avatar picture your kid picks from ours.
  • Progress: which lessons, steps and activities your kid has finished, their stars, and their scores on short checks.
  • Arcade scores: your kid's best score and how many times they've played each game.

Kids don't type anything else into the site. They don't upload photos, and they don't give us an email address, a phone number or a home address.

On your device

The site keeps a few small things in your browser so it works the way you left it:

  • Sign-in cookies, so you stay signed in. These come from our sign-in service, Supabase.
  • A cookie called `ws_child`, which remembers which of your kids is playing on this device.
  • Settings in your browser's storage: whether read-aloud, music and sound effects are on, where your kid paused the capstone build, and stars in some games. Some game progress is saved under your kid's first name. All of this stays on your device.

We don't use advertising cookies. We don't track you across other websites. We don't use an analytics service.

Technical logs

Our hosting and database services keep short technical records, such as IP addresses and the times pages were loaded. They use them to run the site and keep it secure.

Why we collect it

  • To make your account and keep you signed in.
  • To show each kid their own lessons and save their progress.
  • To show you, the parent, how each kid is doing.
  • To write to you about your account and the preview.
  • To keep a record that a parent signed off before build plans opened.
  • To read your feedback and make the site better.

We don't use any of it for ads. We don't build profiles of kids, and we don't sell or rent anyone's information.

Who can see it

  • You. Your account shows only your own family. Each family can see only its own records.
  • Mr. Spinozzi, as the site's administrator, so he can run the site and help you when you write to him.
  • The services that run the site, only to do that job: Supabase (our database and sign-in) and Netlify (our hosting). They hold the information for us. They don't own it.
  • Nobody else, unless the law requires it.

Where it's kept, and how it's protected

Our database and sign-in run on Supabase. Your family's information is kept there, on Supabase's servers. The site is served by Netlify. Information travels between your device and the site encrypted (HTTPS). The database is set up so that each signed-in family can reach only its own records. Your password is stored hashed.

No system is perfect. If something ever goes wrong with your information, we'll tell you.

How long we keep it

We keep your family's information while your account is open. When you delete a kid's profile, it's deleted from the site's database right away. When you ask us to close your account, we delete everything within 30 days. Supabase also keeps backup copies for a short time, and then they're gone too.

Your choices

  • See it. Your dashboard and progress pages show what we keep about each kid. To get a full copy of everything, write to us.
  • Fix it. Change your family name, your email choices and each kid's profile on your Account page.
  • Delete a kid's profile. Do it on your Account page. It also deletes that kid's progress, certificates and scores. If it's your only kid's profile, write to us and we'll delete it.
  • Close your whole account. Write to us from the email on your account, and we'll delete everything within 30 days.
  • Clear your device. Sign out, and clear this site's cookies and storage in your browser settings.
  • Stop collection. Delete a kid's profile or close your account, and we stop collecting anything about them.

Teachers and co-ops

If you teach a group, please add only first names or nicknames, and only with the families' permission.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email parents before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
